WFPD Arrest Local Female for Injury to a Child

On Monday, April 30th, at approximately 6:15 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of Martin Luther King Blvd at Zoom Zooms in reference to an assault.

Upon arrival officers observed a white female later identified as 35 year old Melissa Burnett yelling and screaming at people in the parking lot. Officers were able to get Burnett detained at which time they began to speak with the parties on scene.

Witnesses stated they observed Burnett hit a 12 year old female in the head several times with a closed fist.  When officers spoke to the victim she stated that she was getting out of the back of her parent`s vehicle, when Burnett came up behind her and began screaming at her and hitting her in the back of the head with a closed fist, causing pain. The victim stated she has never met Burnett in her entire life and that she does not know why Burnett hit her.

Officers placed Burnett under arrest and transported her to the Wichita County jail where she was charged with Injury to a Child.

WFPD Makes Early Hour Burglary Arrest

Earlier this morning at approximately 4:30 am officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Airport Drive in reference to a disturbance.

Upon arrival officers observed a male subject wearing a blue bandana covering the lower half of his face, latex gloves and carrying a crowbar running from an apartment. Officers detained and identified the subject as 34 year old Josh Gieseler.  Giesler stated he arrived with two other friends who were still inside the apartment. Shortly after Giesler mentioned his friends being in the apartment two more male subjects exited the apartment.  One was in possession of a bat and the other a set of knuckles. Officers were able to detain both subjects. The subject carrying the bat was identified as 30 year old Wesley Boren and the subject with the knuckles was identified as 23 year old Nicholas Colman.

Officers went to check the apartment that the suspects were seen coming from and located several people inside. One of the victims inside told officers that Giesler, Boren and Colman entered the residence after beating on the door. Once inside all three suspects began to threaten everyone.   The victim stated that one of the males demanded her purse and took four twenty dollar bills from it.  After a search incident to arrest Boren was found to be in possession of four twenty dollar bills.

Officers placed all three suspects into custody and transported them to the Wichita County jail where they were charged with burglary of a habitation.

Suspect Charged with Assault, Resisting and Two Counts of Assault on Public Servant

On Tuesday, January 30th, at approximately 9:20 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1700 block of 9th Street at Walgreens in reference to a possible disturbance.  Upon arrival they spoke with the victim who stated that she and her boyfriend, who was later identified as 27 year old Nolan Blair, were in a verbal argument at which time Blair became physical and started to choke the victim.  The victim was able to get away and call for help.  Blair fled the scene.

Approximately 20 minutes later Blair returned and police were called back.  Officers located Blair at which time he became aggressive towards them. As officers were attempting to place Blair in handcuffs he began to actively resist and pull away.  Officers deployed their conducted energy devices (Taser) but it was unsuccessful.  Blair began to fight with the officers striking one officer in the face with his fist and another in the torso.  Officers were able to redeploy their Taser at which time they were able to get Blair into custody.

Blair was transported to the Wichita County jail without further incident where he was charged with assault family violence, resisting arrest and two counts of assault on a public servant.

WFPD Makes Aggravated Robbery Arrest

On Monday January 29th at approximately 9:45 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 2100 block of 9th Street to Sonic in reference to an aggravated robbery.   The reporting party stated two subjects described as a Hispanic male wearing a blue shirt and jeans and a white male with unknown clothing description came to the store and pointed a silver in color handgun at him and demanded money.  The victim stated that they took approximately $58.00 from him and fled on foot.

Officers began searching the area and located two subjects walking in the 700 block of Denver that matched the description of the suspects.  As officers approached both subjects began to flee.  Officers lost sight of the male in the blue shirt but were able to locate the second attempting to hide behind a trash can in the 1900 block of 8th Street.  Officers demanded for the suspect to show his hands, when he refused officers deployed their conducted energy device (Taser) and were then able to get the suspect into custody. The suspect was identified as 17 year old Robert Bustamante.

During a search incident to arrest officers located five .38 caliber rounds in Bustamante’s front left pants pocket along with $58 in cash and a grey Under Armour mask.  Inside the trash can that Bustamante attempted to hide behind officers located a backpack that contained a silver in color .38 caliber handgun.

Bustamante was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with aggravated robbery and evading.  The case is still under investigation.

WFPD Arrest Burglary Suspect Who Stole House Shoes and Cookies

On Saturday, December 2, at approximately 9:45 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of Covington in reference to a burglary of a habitation.  The victim stated that a black male suspect wearing a camouflaged shirt walked into their home and just began picking things up and then walked back out.

When officers arrived they located 37 year old Shawn Bonner in the 1000 block of Covington.  Bonner was wearing a pair of black house shoes and he was in possession of a large bag of cookies and a book of checks. The victim advised that the checks, house shoes and bag of cookies all came from his residence. The victim advised that Bonner did not have consent to enter his home and take his property.

Bonner was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail without incident where he was charged with burglary of a habitation.

WFPD Arrest Two for Burglary

On Monday, November 20th, at approximately 9:00 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of 15th Street in reference to a possible burglary of a habitation in progress.

Upon arrival officers could hear movement coming from inside the residence and observed someone using a flashlight.  Officers located a broken window on the side of the residence and heard someone climbing through it. When officers shined their flashlight on the suspect the suspect began to run. He was quickly caught in the 1500 block of Bluff and was identified as 17 year old Jose Villagomez.

Villagomez stated to officers that he and a friend, 17 year old Daniel Le, broke into the residence by breaking out a window on the side of the residence in order to smoke marijuana. Villagomez stated that Le was inside the residence when he went out the window and ran. Officers located a subject in the 1200 block of 16th Street who identified himself as Daniel Le.

Both, Villagomez and Le, were arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail without incident where they were charged with burglary of a habitation.  Villagomez was also charged with evading.

WFPD Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On Monday, October 9th, at approximately 12:47 am a patrol officer with the Wichita Falls Police Department stopped a tan 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche for a traffic violation in the 2900 block of Hamilton.  The vehicle was occupied by two females. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 58 year old Vickie Austin.  When officers asked Austin for her driver’s license she stated she did not have one.

As officers were doing an inventory of the vehicle prior to having it impounded due to the driver not having a valid driver’s license officers located an open purse in the front seat. Inside the purse officers located a metal rod that is common with drug use along with two glass pipes.  A further search revealed cubes of a white substance weighing 4.9 grams wrapped in a small plastic bag, another bag containing a white crystal type substance weighing 1.2 grams, multiple pills and over $1,600.00 in cash.  The cubes showed a positive field test for cocaine and the white crystal showed a positive field test for methamphetamine. The pills were identified as Alprazolam which Austin was unable to provide a prescription for.

Austin was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where she was charged with two counts of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one and one count of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group three.  The stopped occurred within 1000 feet of Hamilton Park which enhanced the charges due to it being a drug free zone.

The passenger was released on scene.

WFPD Make Multiple Burglary Arrests Over the Weekend

Officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department made multiple burglary arrests over the weekend.

The first occurred on Saturday, October 7th, at approximately 11:15 pm in the 1000 block of Central Freeway at Castaway Cove.  Officers responded to this location in reference to a possible burglary in progress.  Upon arrival they located 35 year old Steven Rodriguez and 43 year old Lisa Brumley inside one of the cabanas.  There was also a pair of bolt cutters located near where they were.  Officers were able to view a security video that showed Rodriguez using the bolt cutters to cut a hole in the fence surrounding the property.  Officers also located a wheelbarrow near the fence where the hole was cut containing a water pump and a pressure washer valued at over $6,000.00.

Both Rodriguez and Brumley were arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where they were charged with burglary of a business.

The second burglary occurred on Sunday, October 8th, at approximately 8:00 pm in the 1800 block of 10th Street.  Officers responded to this location in reference to a possible burglary in progress.  Upon arrival they located 50 year old Victor Palmer and 48 year old Tammy Neal.  Palmer advised that the residence belonged to a family member and he came to check on it. He stated that he found the front door unsecured and due to recent burglaries in the area he took a suitcase full of clothing, a vacuum cleaner, a cart of miscellaneous items, two decorative eagles and stereo equipment for safe keeping.

Officers made contact with the home owner and where advised that no one had permission to be in the residence or to take any property.

Both Palmer and Neal were arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where they were charged with burglary of a habitation.

WFPD Makes Narcotic Arrest at Local Motel

On Monday, October 2nd, at approximately 2:00 am officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department responded to a narcotics complaint in the 1200 block of Central Freeway to a hotel room at the Motel 6.

Upon arrival officers knocked on the door to the room.  26 year old Dustin Wachs answered the door and gave officers consent to search the room.  Upon searching the room officers located a plastic bag containing a white crystalized substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.  It weighed 4.56 grams.  Officers also located various drug paraphernalia in the room to include additional bags similar to the one that the narcotics was found in and a glass pipe that is consistent with smoking illegal narcotics.  Officers also located over $500 in cash.

Wachs was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail without incident where he was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one.

Suspect Breaks into Victim’s Home and Assaults Homeowner with a Toilet Tank Lid

On Wednesday, September 20th, at approximately 11:15 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Indian Heights Blvd in reference to a check welfare.  While officers were responding they were advised that the home owner had called 911 to report someone had made forced entry into their home.

When officers arrived on scene they observed a broken window and could hear someone yelling for help.  Officers rushed inside and discovered the victim bleeding from his head. He was pointing across the room to a male who was lying on the floor.  Officers were able to detain and identify the male as 46 year old William Dillard Muirhead.

Officers spoke with the victim who stated he heard the distinct sound of broken glass coming from the downstairs part of the residence.  He advised that he called 911 for police assistance and while he was on the phone with 911 Muirhead came upstairs and went into his bed room. The victim advised William then began striking him in the face with both of his closed fists. He stated Muirhead continued the assault by taking the top lid of a toilet tank off and striking him multiple times about the head. It was at that time that officers entered the residence.

Muirhead was acting very erratic and was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.  After being cleared from the hospital Muirhead was transported to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with burglary of a habitation.
