National Police Week is a time where we honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in the line of duty. Since 1890, we have lost 7 officers protecting and serving the citizens of Wichita Falls. Each day this week, we will honor our fallen.
Officer Robert E. Fellows & Officer Walter E. Rappolee Jr.
End of Watch: August 22, 1968
Officer Fellows and Officer Walter Rappolee were crushed to death when a wall fell onto their patrol car. A large fire had destroyed a section of downtown Wichita Falls and the two officers were sitting in their patrol car in front of one of the damaged buildings when the wall collapsed and landed on top of the car.
Officer Fellows had served with the Wichita Falls Police Department for just over 4.5 years.
Officer Rappolee had served with the Wichita Falls Police Department for just over 2 years.
Please take a moment and join us in honoring Officer Fellows and Officer Rappolee.
