On Thursday, May 17th, at approximately 10:45 am officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1400 block of Broad at the Stripes store in reference to a possible disturbance. A white male wearing a blue shirt and tan pants was reported to be assaulting a female at that location.
While responding to the call officers were advised that City of Wichita Falls workers were following the suspect down Bluff St. Officers located the witnesses and the male suspect, who was later identified as 38 year old John Antee, in the 1600 block of Bluff. Antee was holding a gold beer can in his hand.
The witnesses advised that they were driving down 14th St. when they observed Antee assaulting the female clerk at the Stripes so they followed him and called police. Officers went back to the store where they spoke to the victim. She advised she was working at the store when Antee came in. She saw him grab a beer and put it in his pocket. She told him to put it on the counter. He said he did not have anything and walked out of the store. The victim followed him outside at which time Antee hit the victim on the side of the head.
Antee was placed under arrest and transported to the Wichita County jail without incident where he was charged with robbery.
