On Tuesday, May 1st, at approximately 11:00 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 orange Nissan Maxima in the 1900 block of Hines.
The driver was identified as 29 year old Deonta Roberts, the front passenger at first gave officers a false name but was later identified as 26 year old Shatina Gilliam and the backseat passenger was identified as 18 year old Kendall Humphreys. Roberts was unable to provide proof of insurance on the vehicle at which time officers had the occupants step out of the vehicle in order to inventory it for impound.
As the occupants were exiting the vehicle officers observed two open Bud Light beers in the passenger area of the vehicle as well as a pill bottle with no label and numerous pills in it lying on the passenger floorboard. During the search of the vehicle officers located a Springfield Armory XP40 .40 caliber handgun, a Glock 42 .380 caliber handgun and a Taurus 709 9mm handgun inside the trunk of the vehicle. All three handguns had loaded magazines inserted in them. A records check on the three hanguns showed that the Glock 42 .380 handgun was reported stolen through the Arlington Police Department.
As officers were searching the subjects they located on Gilliam several clear plastic bags containing a green leafy substance on her person. The substance was field tested and render a positive result for marijuana and weighed 0.1685 ounces. Humphreys also admitted to having marijuana concealed in his left sock.
All three subjects were arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail without incident where they were charged with numerous offenses from theft of firearm, possession of marijuana in a drug free zone and failure to identify along with multiple outstanding warrants being served.
