On Friday, April 6th, at approximately 1:40 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department stopped a 2002 tan Buick Le Sabre at the intersection of Barwise and Texas Ave for improper tags. The driver was identified as 43 year old Cedric Gray.
While officers were in the process of writing a citation to the driver the WFPD K-9 Unit responded to the scene and conducted a free air search around the vehicle. During the search K-9 Turko alerted to the presence of narcotic odors emitting from inside the vehicle, at which time officers conducted a search of the vehicle.
During the search of the vehicle officers located a grey plastic bag inside a CD player box. Inside the bag officers observed numerous small clear plastic baggies containing a clear crystal like substance. The substance was field tested and rendered a positive for Methamphetamine. There were a total of 18 smaller baggies inside the plastic bag, all of which contained the same crystal like substance. 17 of the baggies weighed 29 grams and one weighed 28 grams for a total weight of 521 grams.
Gray was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one.
