On April 2nd at approximately 11:00 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 3600 block of Maplewood to Parks Place Apartments in reference to a possible aggravated robbery. While in route to the call officers were advised that a Hispanic male wearing a blue long sleeve shirt and shorts had just taken some items from the victim’s vehicle and threatened him with a hammer.
Upon arrival officers located two males, one of whom matched the description of the suspect, standing outside. When the Hispanic male saw police he began to walk away. Officers detained the subject who was later identified as 21 year old Alexis Rodriguez-Maldonado.
Officers spoke to the victim who stated that while he was inside his apartment he heard a loud banging sound coming from outside. The victim looked outside through his window and observed Rodriguez-Maldonado inside his vehicle, a blue 2015 Chrysler 200, taking items out. The victim went outside to confront Rodriguez-Maldonado. When he confronted him, the victim stated that Rodriguez-Maldonado threatened to hurt him with a hammer that he had in his hand.
The victim observed Rodriguez-Maldonado take items from his vehicle and run back to his apartment which was directly behind the victim`s apartment. The victim stated while on the phone with dispatch, Rodriguez-Maldonado came back out of his apartment without the stolen items or the hammer. It was at this point that officers arrived on scene.
Officers spoke to a witness who stated that they observed Rodriguez-Maldonado inside the victim’s vehicle. The witness also stated that they observed Rodriguez-Maldonado threaten the victim with a hammer.
Officers arrested Rodriguez-Maldonado and transported him to the Wichita County jail without incident where he was charged with aggravated robbery.
