On Monday January 29th at approximately 9:45 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 2100 block of 9th Street to Sonic in reference to an aggravated robbery. The reporting party stated two subjects described as a Hispanic male wearing a blue shirt and jeans and a white male with unknown clothing description came to the store and pointed a silver in color handgun at him and demanded money. The victim stated that they took approximately $58.00 from him and fled on foot.
Officers began searching the area and located two subjects walking in the 700 block of Denver that matched the description of the suspects. As officers approached both subjects began to flee. Officers lost sight of the male in the blue shirt but were able to locate the second attempting to hide behind a trash can in the 1900 block of 8th Street. Officers demanded for the suspect to show his hands, when he refused officers deployed their conducted energy device (Taser) and were then able to get the suspect into custody. The suspect was identified as 17 year old Robert Bustamante.
During a search incident to arrest officers located five .38 caliber rounds in Bustamante’s front left pants pocket along with $58 in cash and a grey Under Armour mask. Inside the trash can that Bustamante attempted to hide behind officers located a backpack that contained a silver in color .38 caliber handgun.
Bustamante was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with aggravated robbery and evading. The case is still under investigation.
