On Thursday, December 22nd at approximately 7:00 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of 9th Street in reference to a panic alarm at Delbert’s Laundry and Cleaners.
Upon arrival officers located two white males involved in a disturbance. Officers were able to get them separated at which time the victim stated that the suspect, later identified as 25 year old Jeremy McClendon, became upset with him because he was watching some nearby children singing Christmas carols. The victim stated that during the course of the argument McClendon pulled out a handgun, pointed it at him and asked him if he still wanted to fight. The victim stated that McClendon threatened him with the handgun for several seconds and then pulled the trigger twice striking him in the chest. The handgun was determined to be an air pistol. The victim was struck twice by BBs fired from the pistol.
Officers were able to recover an air pistol from the scene that looked similar to a real semi-automatic handgun.
McClendon was arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with aggravated assault. McClendon also had several outstanding warrants that were served.
The victim did not suffer any injuries from the assault.
