On Monday, December 19th, at 4:24 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were dispatched to the area of 5th and Broad in reference to a suspect that was attempting to steal vehicles. The suspect was described as a white male, 40-45 years of age, wearing blue jeans and a blue and grey shirt.
At 4:27 pm an officer located a subject, later identified as 40 year old James Moore of Henrietta, matching that description in the area of 4th and Broad near the access to Central Frwy. When the officer went to detain Moore he began to fight with the officer. Moore was able to get into the officer’s patrol vehicle at which time Moore ran over the officer with the vehicle and continued northbound on Central Frwy.
As Moore was fleeing northbound on Central Frwy in the stolen vehicle he struck a small grey pickup truck causing it to spin out. Moore continued northbound towards Sheppard Air Force base. Moore drove onto the base at approximately 4:36 pm and was shortly taken into custody at approximately 4:40 pm.
Moore was transported to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, theft, and evading.
