On Tuesday, November 15th at approximately 4:00 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department stopped a 2016 silver Hyundai Santa Fe in the area of Airport Drive and Central Freeway for a traffic violation. The vehicle was occupied by the driver, 33 year old Budde Strickland and two female passengers; 24 year old Ashleigh Schlegel and her mother 41 year old Deadrea Bruce.
A records checked confirmed that Strickland had an outstanding parole violation warrant. Strickland also stated to officers that there was methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and located two bags with a crystal like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. The methamphetamine weighed over 44 grams. Officers also located inside the vehicle a digital scale, numerous empty, small plastic bags, multiple cellular phones and cash.
After officers read the passengers the Miranda warning they both agreed to speak with officers and stated that they were aware of the narcotics and were in fact selling them.
All three were arrested and transported to the Wichita County jail where they were charged with engaging in organized criminal activity manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one. Strickland was also served with the outstanding parole violation warrant.
