On August 31st at approximately 2:45 pm officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department were responding to a possible criminal mischief report in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Blvd. While searching for the suspect a black male later identified as 31 year old Bryan Ray, who was walking in the area, picked up a large rock and threw it at one of the marked WFPD patrol vehicles striking the windshield. When officers began to approach Ray he stopped in the middle of the road, clinched his fists and asked the officers if they wanted to fight.
When officers asked Ray for his name he fled the area on foot. Officers began to pursue him at which time Ray stopped to pick up rocks and began throwing them at the officers. At one point Ray charged after one of the officers and began to swing his fists at him. It was at this point that officers successfully deployed their taser allowing them to take Ray into custody without further incident.
Officers transported Ray to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with four counts of assault on a public servant and evading.
There were no reported injuries.
