On September 15th, 2015, at approximately 7:08 am, officers responded to an unknown accident at the intersection of Borland and Iowa Park Road. The vehicle was reported to be in the ditch. Upon arrival the vehicle was located and the driver identified as Jack Allen Gant III, 07-23-82. Officers on scene smelled an odor of ether emitting from the vehicle. A backup officer arrived and a search of the vehicle revealed approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine, pseudoephedrine, items used to manufacture methamphetamine, a shotgun as well as multiple tools and paperwork. The investigation continued and officers determined that the paperwork and tools were stolen from a residence in the 2700 blk of 9th Street. Detectives from the burglary and narcotics section arrived on scene to assist in the investigation. Gant was arrested and charged with:Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 (methamphetamine) over 1 gram less than 4 grams,Possession of Certain Chemicals with Intent to Manufacture, Felon in Possession of Firearm and Burglary of a habitation.
