Local agencies attend Special Olympics ceremonies

The Wichita Falls Police Department participated in the opening day ceremonies of the Special Olympics Spring Games.  16 teams  consisting of 150 athletes from the region participated in the event.  The opening ceremonies began with the Light of Hope Torch Run where  each Special Olympian is partnered with a local law enforcement representative. The Law Enforcement Torch Run takes place throughout the United States  with representation from Texas through June.  Local agencies participating in the event were  the Wichita Falls, Iowa Park, Holliday, Burkburnett and Quanah police departments along with Texas DPS, Texas Rangers and the Allred Unit, Department of Corrections.     Good luck to all our Olympians!   “Let me win, but if I can not win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
